What a great deal. Their small sandwich can easily feed a hungry adult. Large is definitly enough for 2 adults at lunch time. In my house a small was enough for 1 kid and 1 adult. We order our fries extra crispy. Lots of variety on the menu. We usually go for the hot pastrami and Gene's combo. There is outside and inside seating. This was the first time I have been here. I actually went when they opened on Saturday morning before they were to shut their doors. I found out about their closing from facebook, so my wife and I decided we should give it a try before they close. Actually, the weekend before, I was going to go around lunchtime, and when I went on their website to order, they said that they had to close early because they ran out of their fresh baked bread. So knowing that, we ordered online and selected a pick up time at opening. When we got there, there was a couple of people ahead of us. We went to the pick up window and said we were picking up our online order. They acknowledged, our orders and proceeded to make our sandwiches. The sandwiches were a good size. Close to a foot long. The bread was fresh, pastrami was soft and tender. We decided against the dip and settled for the grinder, and glad because it was very flavorful. We also ordered a cold sandwich, the deli meats were delicious, but my wife didn't like that cheddar cheese. But overall, we enjoyed our sandwiches with fries. This is by far the best sandwich place in the surrounding area. Gene's special is a huge gut buster that will fill you for the rest of the day. The tuna sandwich is also great. The fries aren't bad and the staff is friendly and is consistent with the size and make of the sandwiches. The bread is great and I believe they make it themselves because I have never seen it anywhere else. Do yourself a favor and go to Gene's. Sandwiches are simple but good! They often run out of certain meats, bread, fries, cherry coke, etc. so don't count on them being open after 1pm. Oh boy, yummy! Was in Monrovia and a local recommended Gene's. Glad we took his recommendation. Husband got the Large Cold Turkey ($9) & I got the Small cold Roast Beef ($7) just as described on menu. Tons of meat in both grinders (subs), on tasty chewy soft bread rolls. The small was large & packed regardless it's called a small. We both ate only half of our subs and were satisfied. If in the area would definitely do again. Ordered the chicken Tuesday special, haven't been here before so wasn't sure what I was going to get. Fries were a little oily but crunchy was good, if you ordered fries and a drink had ordered the large but would split it with my wife or a friend. Was a large portion and good price. Would definitely come again, the guys working the windows were nice and friendly and food came out within a reasonable time for lunch rush.
